Cultural Arts Center Dighton
Dighton, Kansas is oddly enough both the center of and the edge of the known universe. It is simultaniously somewhere and nowhere. There is not enough sting in my theory to explain – just trust me.
Burroughs, Kerouac and Ginsberg descended here on trips to Denver from Wichita. It is the perfect pee stop and had what was at the time a marvelous new glistening service station – gas, goodies and a change to stretch. And as you drive the drag in Dighton, you can still feel the heat and heartache that drafts behind in the vaccuum left by their departure.
